Camino Surfcamp
Our camp base is located on the 3-star camping site Valdovino - in full sight and only 5 minutes by foot off the ocean shore "Playa de Frouxeira". It offers its own cafe, restaurant, super market, very neat bathrooms, and W-LAN under shadow-spending trees.
The common tent is the meeting point for taking refreshments out of the common fridge whilst seeing movies, playing darts or poker, or just to talk about surfing.
If there's still energy left, you can always spend it while playing basketball on the camping site's own court, go indo- or skateboarding, or discover the beautiful landscape on one of our bikes. Our chill-out area is equipped with hammocks, so you can relax your body and soul. After our dinner it's out to the bars in nearby Valdovino for a beer or two, or just a movie in our common tent.
Philosophy
At Camino Surfcamp, we don't see surfing as pure water sports, but rather as a sporty and mental approach to having fun in the nature.
Fun is the top priority. Gliding along a glittering, moving mountain of water and taking in the waves energy - it's kick and relaxation all in one!
Our professional teachers show you how to quickly make improvements and easily master the art of surfing.
Experience, enthusiasm, and an unconditional love towards surfing are Camino Surfcamps trademarks, and to assure our possibilities, we see it as a commitment towards nature to maintain and spread our awareness and respect. We are supported by well-known organizations surfrider-foundation and carbonfund.org, and we are supporting Fair Trade among others. What's more, you get to test ecologically produced balso wood surf boards.
Board and Accommodation
Our apartments are on the edge of Valdovino camping, right next to our base camp. All its facilities are of course available to you.
The light apartments offer room for 4 to 6 people, each accommodated in 2-person bedrooms. Each apartments has a kitchen, bathroom, living room, and a terrace facing the ocean.
Surf Course
Courses are divided into beginners, intermediate and advanced courses. All courses are set up in a methodological and proven manner. All courses are held from sunday until thursday.
Beginners
In 3 - 4 hours each day you will be taught everything you need to know about surfing, additionally to practical units you will get half-hour to one-hour theoretical units and video analysis. Course targets: Take-off and surfing green waves.
Intermediates
Eligible for surfers, who already had a beginners course or equal experience. It offers deeper going thematics of practical and theoretical units and video analysis, to take you to the next step toward being an independent surfer. Targets of this course: Surfing green waves and first turns.
Advanced
Prerequisites are safe behavior in shoulder-high waves, safe take-offs and knowledge of lineup rules. Learning and improving maneuvers are a big part of this course, which will be supported by different kinds of video analysis (also by underwater cam). Early morning and sunset sessions are also a part of the advanced courses. Targets will be defined individually at the beginning of the course.
Material is being held ready for the length of the course. Each participant gets a surf board and wetsuit. We are using boards by BIC, NSP and Bugz. It can be agreed upon using the material outside of course time.
Our instructors are licensed by approved surfing associations (DWV, ISA), and each have long surfing expeirence from trips all around the world.
Travel
Day of arrival and departure is saturday. The nearest airports are Santiago de Compostela and La Coruna.
